2007 March 7-- lydgate, kalapaki, nawiliwili, poipu point:

Time to check on Lydgate again.  Noone there, just the tractor.  I'm guessing we won't be snorkeling Lydgate this trip.
Heading through Lihue.  This tent church always  gets my attention.  Interesting how you can put up a church anywhere.
We decided to ride around Lihue.  Found a lookout over Kalapaki bay with the Marriott to the right.
 Back on Marriott grounds---Neptune?
Cruise ship at Nawiliwili harbor.  Someday----
Then we continued on to the South side.  While taking a break from snorkeling, I got a kick out of watching this young fellow---especially when he put a hand full of sand in his mouth.
Love all the bougainvillea all over the islands.
And all the monk seals we get to see in nature.
Near sunset, we headed to Poipu Point.  This is from the Point looking towards Shipwreck Rock.
We actually saw a couple whales this time.
The cruise ship heading around Kauai.  I bet the views of the Napali are impressive from the ship.
Sunset was pretty impressive tonight.

a sunset cruise heading back to the marina.

 Another great day on Kauai!

2005-2-14---Portifino's on Kalapaki bay:

Kalapaki Bay is a beautiful large cresent bay, but we find it rather difficult to get to. There is some public beach parking at the Marriott, but not much. There are also shops and restaurants along the bay, but parking is a problem with them, too. We did eat at Portifino's on Valentine's Day and dinner was very good, as was the view of the bay. We would probably spend more time here if it wasn't so crowded or hard to find parking at.
