March 2, 2013: Ulua, peggy sue's, kameole and more----

Another great breakfast on the lanai, then off to the beach.  This time we happened to find a parking spot at Ulua beach, so we spent about 3 hours there.  Snorkeling was great as always.  Even heard the whales again.

and this huge school of fish.
Not sure what this guy was doing with the clip board---fish counting?  There were lots of divers here today.
another of the many pink tailed triggerfish around Maui
Surprise---another turtle.  Actually 2.  I wonder what happened to the one I saw here last May that only had 3 flippers?
I don't think I've posted this guy yet.  They're so common here that I don't pay much attention to them---blue line surgeonfish?
 Saw 3 eels today.
 school of unicornfish
long nosed butterflyfish
another common fish (more so on Kauai) -- raccoon butterflyfish

another blue trevely
schools of fish and steep drop offs.
 barred triggerfish?
lots of rocky areas and pencil urchins
 the state fish
 another eel
well hidden pretty shell of some sort
 zebra eel
 Bill chilling out.
cool shadows on our way out.
After our 3 hours there, we were hungry again.  So we decided to go to Peggy Sue's.  Ken and I shared a pineapple malt again.  It was delicious.
 Our burgers were great, too.
Then we headed to Kamaole beach by our resort.  While we were sitting there, a mother and baby whale put on a show for us.  Wish they had been closer to shore.
 Looking up the beach.
 looking towards Haleakula.
After about an hour on the beach and some more time at the jacuzzi, we decided to clean up and head towards Lahaina stopping along the way to take sunset pictures.  we stopped about the 12 mile marker.
 Bill posing again.
 yeehawww
Not much color in the sunset, so it made a better black and white photo.

Traffic was really bad.  Don't know why it was so slow heading to Lahaina on a Sat. night after sunset, but we decided to turn around a find somewhere closer to Kihei.  Ended up going to Beach Bums in the Maalaea Harbor.  It was very good---as was the live music.

Back in Kihei, there was a car show going on in the parking lot by Coconuts, so we stopped to take a look.  There were some really neat cars there!

Even spent quite awhile talking to the gentleman and woman who owns this car.
By the time we got "home", we were all pretty well whipped.  But it was another fun day!  Only one more left for our guests and only 3 left for us! :(
