2006-Nov. 4---Haleakala, again:
Since it was so cloudy a couple days ago when we headed up the mountain, we decided to try again now that the sun was shining.
We made a few stops along the way and walked to a few view points.
The views were of clouds again.
I was beginning to get concerned that we weren't going to see much at the summit again.
But we started seeing more blue skies.
We actually got above the clouds.
One of the pull offs.
looking back down from above the clouds.
almost to the top and admiring the flora as well as the colorful mountain terrain.
There were a few clouds rolling up there, but the views were still amazing.
a rocky summit
wide angle view at the top
So foreign looking! Hard to believe this is Hawaii.
One last picture from the top before we started back down.
Heading down
taking another walk.
I think this is a quail, but it's marking are more distinctive than any I've seen before.
Back in Kihei, we caught sunset at the Kamaole beach across from our resort.
The end to another beautiful day!
