2010-3-2 south again:
With the surf still up and the weather iffy, we headed south again. This time we stopped in Koloa town first and wandered around a bit. We've never really walked around the little town until today. There is a nifty little museum in the block.
Ken even found a friend
Koloa is a historic little town.
There's even a little museum like area with photos from long ago. I found this old picture of Koloa Landing really interesting. A placque said it was the 3rd largest port in Hawaii back in about the early 1900's. Knowing how small that landing is, I was surprised. No train tracks anymore and the port is now just a place people go to for walking into the water with dive gear on.
Here's a view of Koloa Landing today from up by where the train tracks are going in the above picture.
more in the little "museum"
Love all the flowers around. Haven't seen any in about 4 months back in the midwest.
Like a magnet, we ended up back at Lawai beach.

Someone being cruel to a sea cucumber---wasn't us.

After snorkeling for quite awhile, we showered off next to the restrooms. Love this little water garden next to the shower. Technically the garden is part of the Lawai Resort grounds.
Chilling out and waiting for sunset.
a little friend coming to share a snack with us.
sunset cruises heading out
We headed down by Port Allen boat harbor for sunset.
again, the sunset wasn't the greatest, but we still enjoyed it.
With sunset behind us, it was time for our hour or so trek back to Kauai Beach Villas.
