Feb. 17, 2012 : Lydgate

You would think we stayed up late enough last night to sleep in----wrong!  By 7 we were up again.  After officially checking in with Wyndham, we headed off to breakfast at Olympic Cafe.  Not only do we enjoy the food there, but we also enjoy the entertainment while we wait.  We always sit by the open windows and look down from the 2nd story restaurant and watch life go by.
Clever surf board carrier!
We also marvel that there are semis on this little island!
Or how about this guy and his co-pilot:
Finally Ken's meal came----but not mine!  I got to sit there starving and watch him eat.  Finally my breakfast came.  I guess I wasn't as hungry as I thought because I could only eat half of my banana mac nut pancakes.

Finally full, we took a ride up the coast and wandered around a bit.  It was a beautiful day!  High surf warnings, but in the upper 70's and sunny.  Hope it stays like this!

Even rode up into some residencial streets.  Loved the spiral stairs to the roof of this house!
On our way back to the condo, we checked out the area by Lydgate,
The pools actually looked pretty inviting, so we decided to head back to the condo and get our swimsuits on and go back to see if the snorkeling cleared up since they rebuilt the walls.
Unfortunately, the water was still quite murky, but there were lots of fish in there.  And with  alittle help from photoshop, they don't look too bad!

Even saw a lot of the same fish that have been there for years---like the stripey above and the big blue fish below.

Even saw a couple flounders.
Then it was time to head back to the condo, clean up, and head off to find a sunset.  Looked like conditions would be great, but the lack of clouds at the horizon caused the sunset to fizzle out.  Conditions looked perfect for the green flash, but that didn't even happen.  At least not from our viewpoint at the Spouting Horn.
While we were waiting for sunset, we even saw that the wild chickens here do indeed have at least one enemy.
With the sun down, it was time to think of food again.  Fish sounded good.  We tried going to Keoki's Paradise but it was too crowded.  So we had Poipu Tropical Burger instead.  My mahi mahi was very good.  So was Ken's tropical burger.
So ends our 1st real day on Kauai.
