The old guy reached another landmark birthday today! Now he's 62 and able to draw social security! Yea!!! I made him plan the day today. Should make him do it more often. It was another great day! Even the weather was great again. Nice to see lots of sun again. It was quite windy---20-25mph out of the north with gusts of 40. But it didn't stop us.
DH decided we should finally ride bikes on the East side bike/walk path. We've talked about doing this for years. We found a shop behind Ono Restuarant in Kapaa that rents them for $10 for 2 people for 1 hour or $15 for 2 hours. My cruiser worked quite well. I was surprised how well it did in the 25mph headwinds. Ken had problems with his and ended up waiting by the pier 3 or 4 miles into the ride for me to get back from the end of the trail. Here are a few pictures from the trail:
the skies and ocean colors were incredible.

The wind made it a bit tough going north, but made the ride back much easier! I loved the ride and would do it regularly if I lived here.
When we were done riding, we did a little riding around---up to to Opaeka'a Falls and the Wailua Lookout.
Even found Baby Beach in Kapaa while we were randomly driving around. I always wondered where it was!
With the weather being so nice, we decided our next activity should be snorkeling. So we headed back to the condo to change and headed south. Ended up at Lawai. We were a bit concerned with the wind, but it turned out being a great day to snorkel. It was only about 74, but the sun was shining.
The water was even the clearest we've come across yet this trip.

We often see turtles here, this day was no exception. We saw 2 today. This one looked like it had seen better days.
Blackside Hawkfish
young Orange bar Surgeonfish
barred filefish
first time I've seen a school of 4 spot butterflyfish. There were a few more that didn't fit into the frame.

lots of orange bar surgeonfish and a few other fish

We got out and changed into dry clothes and were off to Keoki's Paradise by 4:30 so we could make it for Happy Hour. This time we shared the pulled pork sandwich and fish and chips. Both were excellent.
After dinner, we headed to the end of the road by spouting horn. Watched for whales, but didn't see any. Did see a few interesting views, though.
Finally ended up at the small boat harbor and waited for another lack luster sunset.
At least it wasn't totally overcast and raining!
