 Feb. 2, 2014 --Anahola snorkeling; Super Bowl; Kee sunset;

It was another beautiful day here, even on the north side!  Not a drop of rain all day and lots of sunshine.

Unfortunately, the surf is up on the north shore, so we headed to the NE beach, Anahola, to try snorkeling there again.

Love the mountain view here.
Snorkeling seemed a little better today.  Although it is a lot more challenging here then elsewhere on Kauai since the reef is really shallow.
Young damselfish (the adults can change to all white before your eyes).
One of the 2 octopuses (I actually looked up the plural for octopus!) we saw here.

I don't know what these small fish are, but there were lots and lots of them.
a blue trevally and a female surge wrasse.  I find it interesting how different species will chum around together.  I often wonder if they know what they look like.
a very small stripebelly puffer
the 2nd and larger octupus.  Neither would come out of their hiding place even though I waited quite awhile.
a small Ambon toby.

 blue stipe butterflyfish
A male spotted boxfish, the female is all black with white spots
Love this view almost as much as the view of Bali Hai from Tunnels.
road into/out of Anahola Park.
After snorkeling about 2 hours, we went back to the condo and had our own little Super Bowl party.  We really didn't care who won, but did expect a better game!
This was the best part of the Super Bowl game---yea, Bruno!
While watching the game, I noticed these tiny birds all over the tree by our lanai.  (Japanese White-eye)
 They are fun to watch.
Then we drove out to Kee to wait for sunset.  Love the way the sun shines on the palms as the sun goes down. Always reminds me of a painting.
There was a pretty heavy cloud cover, so the clouds didn't light up much, but it was still a nice way to spend the evening.
The sun rays did create interest and a little color.
Sun disappearing into the clouds.
It was fun watching the waves, too.
Got a kick out of the folded up lifeguard stand.  Almost looked like a weird space ship.
On the way back to the condo, we stopped at the Chevron station and picked up some dinner to take back to the condo.   This was the Super Bowl special for something like $24.  It was all very good!  I'm sure this will be a repeat place for us.
After dinner, we hit the jacuzzi for awhile.  Nice ending to a great day!
