Feb. 1, 2014 --move to Wyndham Bali Hai, hang around Hanalei--

Hard to believe 2 weeks is over!!!  Only 3 more nights.  These next 3 nights will be spent in Princeville at the Wyndham Bali Hai in a 3 bedroom presidential unit.  More VIP magic---half the points of the 2 bedroom lower with a free upgrade to the 3 bedroom presidential.  It looked like it might be a really nice day again.  The north shore was even below advisory levels again, but wave heights were suppose to be higher then yesterday.  Our plan was to check out of KBV, return an item to Walmart, then head up to Bali Hai and hope for an early VIP check in.  Then unload the car and head to Kee and/or Tunnels again.  I took a few pictures on our way north.  I love the views any direction we're going!   Even when there's a few droplets of rain on the windshield.
I know these orange flowering vines are harmful to the plants they overgrow, but they sure are pretty.

We saw a sign for this farm restaurant by Kilauea the other day and decided to check it out.  Certainly comes with a view!
The Garden Cafe.  Looked really impressive.  Open air dining and a nice selection of goodies.
I would love to eat here, but hubby doesn't do vegetables.   If I can get him to settle for a burger, I might be able to actually go eat here.  (Unfortunately it didn't happen this trip)

 Nearing the Princeville airport
I believe this goes to the Prince golfcourse.

So much for plans!  When we got to Princeville at about noon, they said the room was still being cleaned and should be done around 2.  2+ hours to clean a unit?----guess it's a good thing I'm not a housekeeper for a living!  Anyway, we headed to Hanalei to kill a couple hours.

I always love to check out the taro fields right before Hanalei.  It's always a good place to find Nenes, too.

 taro, an interesting plant!
Not the greatest of views with the harsh lighting, but still pretty.
We had lunch at Tahiti Nui.  We shared a caesar salad and kalua pork sandwich.  Both were very good.
Then we headed to the bay.  It was a beautiful day weatherwise so far.
Enjoyed watching the boogie boarders.  Made it look fun and easy.  Our son and daughter-in-law tried it once.  The board went out from under our daughter-in-law and came back up hitting her in the back.  She was in a lot of pain for quite awhile after that!

 looking towards the left.
We even spent some time by the pier.  I guess we've never been there at this time of the day with the sun shining like it was.  The water was so beautiful!
Yeah, I took this picture under the pier before, but the conditions were better this time.
Another picture of the pier from the other side
 one more
to the far right where the river meets the bay.  Great place to kayak and stand up paddle board.
On the way out I admired this rock wall with the pictures inlaid in it.  The only fish I got to see today!
I want to live in a place where people ride around on scooters with surf boards on the side!
We went back to Bali Hai about 1:50 and were told they weren't done with the inspection yet and to go wait in the lounge.  We did for about 15 minutes.  By then, they had a line of people checking in and we were more or less forgotten.  Not too happy---my sunny day was passing by.  Finally she gave us our keys and we were checked in and changing into our swimsuite about 3pm.  By then, the clouds had moved in and it was looking like rain at any time.  We did drive to Kee, but it wasn't any better.  I had hoped to at least have a nice sunset oppurtunity there, but not today.  We headed back to the resort--through the rain.  Hit up Foodland for 3 more days of breakfasts.  Decided to hit the jacuzzi and pool since we couldn't snorkel.  The pool areas here are really nice.  We're not far from the newer one and the new clubhouse.  The clubhouse looks pretty nice from the outside, but isn't open yet.  It was suppose to open on Jan. 30, but didn't make it.   I even got in the pool and was surprised it wasn't much colder then the ocean.  Sun set with heavy overcast.
Just a few pictures of the Bali Hai for those who may be interested.  We own 1 week here, EOY, but have never stayed here--or anywhere on the north shore.  But getting the last 3 nights for so few Wyndham points was a game changer.  I'll have to admit I really like the finishes in this unit!  If only they would renovate KBV with these finishes!!!  The kitchen even has no slam drawers!   This picture is from the door looking left to the kitchen, diningroom and 3rd bedroom and 3rd bathroom.
Looking slightly right from the door with one of the 2 master bedrooms in the middle.  I even love the honey colored flooring and print on the couch and chairs.  Stainless appliances, uplighting in the kitchen tray ceiling, granite counters, nice colored cabinets, crown molding, nice mattress!, 2 jacuzzi tubs, Hawaiian inspired decorations, 5 ceiling fans, wrap around lanai, and the stairwell goes to our unit only.  If only we had an oceanview and were on the East side!
the 3rd bedroom with 2 double beds and on suite bathroom.
What we were going to use as our master, but decided we may want to sleep in and noticed no covering on the upper windows.
The other master bedroom.  I guess we can try a different bedroom every night!
So the day didn't turn out as planned, which is why we don't often plan things when we're here.  But it turned out to be a beautiful day to take pictures at Hanalei Bay so I'm really not complaining---too much.
