2006-Feb. 2---East side, Lydgate, Tim and Faith arrive:

Since Tim and Faith were arrivig later today, we hung around the East side so we could flight check them on our computer.  But we did get as far as Lihue.  I was surprised to see this Anheuser-Busch place here.
We were treated to rainbow, too.

Got a bite to eat at a little bar in the shopping center by Safeway.  Forget the name of it, but the burgers were very good and it's apparently owned by a Cardinals' fan!
The bar was near this Wyland painting.
We also drove up to the Wailua river overlook.

Then we went to Lydgate for a little bit.  It was time to get some snorkeling in!
 Looked so inviting!
 lots of fish---as always.
only place I've seen the little Stripey other then the aquarium.

 Even Dad did some snorkeling
and Ken---still hadn't learned to use a snorkel tube yet, though!
There are always schools of mullets here.
 and sargeant Majors

There was a small school of stripeys here.
 schools of other fish, too.
occassionally there are baracudas in here like there was today.

Before the kids' flight got in, we checked in for them at Kauai Coast Resort.  With Dad staying with us, we were out of room and figured they'd enjoy the privacy of their own resort.  I got a super deal here---something like $500 for 5 nights including a car if we  promise to do a timeshare presentation there.
I was really impressed with the decor.
 very classy.
they even have central ac which isn't too common here.

View from the unit we toured.

The unit the kids got---pretty much the same, only they're in a 1 bedroom/handicapped accessible unit instead of a 2 bedroom.
a few of the snacks we got for them to welcome them to Kauai.
They didn't ask for a handicapped room, but I guess that's all that was left.
 Outside of their building.
 view from their patio door.
 the beach by their place.
I'm sure they'll enjoy this, too.
 and these.
 and this outside bar.
and I'll enjoy coming over to hang out with them in their heated pool!
 love their pool!

Their restaurant is also very popular---but we've never been there.  Not Ken's type of food---too fancy.
 nice lounge.

Can't wait to share Kauai with the kids again!
