2011-Feb. 16: Kee, Tunnels
This was the morning our resort held it's Owner's Update
meeting. We went to it and listened to future plans for the resort.
Supposedly it'll be totally renovated in 6 years. It'll be interesting
to see if that happens. We were originally suppose to get a totally
renovated pool area several years ago, but over the last year they
decided to just update the pool area that's already there. They had been
doing condo renovations little by little throughout the years, but I
was somewhat surprised when we checked into our 2nd week and it still
had the old mattresses and bedding in them. I love the resort for it's
location, cleanliness, layout, and size of accommodations, but they
really can use a good make-over! Seems like most of our maintenance fees
have been going towards the new construction at the Bali Hai Wyndham.
Love the condos there, but not so much the location--at least not for
winter.
Done with the meeting, we saw that
the surf report (for snorkeling, not surfing) again recommended the
north shore over the south, so off to the north shore we went again!
This time we hit Kee first. The water was pool like again.
Here's another visitor enjoying watching the large outter waves.
We even saw a couple turtles at Kee this trip. Also saw one at Tunnels and one at Lawai. It was a good year for swimming with turtles.

a school of Mullets hanging out at Kee
a strange little worm-nudibranch that I've never seen before.
a juvenile Emporer
Many bar goatfish
elegant coris
Magnificent snake eel.
Another view from down the beach at Kee.
Tunnels was also amazingly calm. We've discovered if you go around low tide, the surf usually calms down. With low tide coming about an hour later every day, we were lucky to have low tide in the early afternoon-early evening for almost a week. High tide was about 6 hours later.

It's unusual for the North shore to be calm this much in the winter. Hopef it continues this way.
