2011-Feb. 18: Anini, Hanalei

Another great day to head north. The vog was even down quite a bit. The closer mountains were actually pretty clear today as seen in this picture. This was taken a little past Kapaa on our way to Anini.

I took pity of Ken and didn't make him drive all the way to Kee and Tunnels, although the weather and calm surf would have been good for that again. Instead, we spent 3 or 4 hours at Anini, mostly snorkeling.
 Hawaiian hogfish
 another strange tube thingy
 eel
 some of the healthy coral
 juvenile surgeonfish and Hawaiian Dascyllus
More of the endemic Dascylluses and a tear drop butterflyfish
We did head into Hanalei for a while later in the afternoon. Even made it to happy hour at Calypso's for a drink and cheap appetisers (dinner)--nachos and chicken wings. The sky opened up and it poured while we were eating. After dinner, we headed over to Hanalei pier to see if we could catch a sunset there. No luck, again, but I did enjoy wandering around taking more pictures.

The rain drenched spider lilies posed for a pretty picture.

Going down the beach, I walked under the pier and got this interesting perspective.

Did get to see the church lights on, though.
 and a misty Hanalei

AFter another lack luster sunset, we headed back to our condo and packed for our move the next day.
