2011-Feb. 10-12, Plantation Hale-

This year we spent our first 2 nights in the Plantation Hale in Kapaa. For $80/night, it was quite a deal. For the most part, it was pretty nice.  I liked that it had an air conditioner that had half the air directed into the bedroom and half into the livingroom. Both areas stayed nice and cool. The 1 bedroom condo was a decent size. The pool areas are nice and we actually used the jacuzzi the 2nd morning (in the rain). The big downfall was they supposedly only have 15 units with a king bed instead of 2 doubles. Even with a request in for a King bed, we got the 2 beds. But that wouldn't stop me from booking it again for a day or 2 at the right price.  It's location is great---right across from the Coconut Marketplace and Kauai Coast Resort.  Walking distance to Eggbert's in the Marketplace and Hukalai Lanai at KCR.

Note the corner table which is actually directing half the ac to the bedroom.  Ingenious and it kept both rooms cool!

Nicely landscaped grounds leading towards the pool nearest us.

This was the typical voggy view for the first several days. It did let up somewhat nearer the end of our trip, but the vog didn't totally go away. I believe the normal tradewinds came back the day we left. At least there was lots of green and no snow or ice! Been a tough winter in the midwest.
