3-7-2003  Waimea Canyon:

Today we headed up to the canyon.  I'll never get tired of the views up there!
Before even getting the road up the canyon, there's a viewpoint from the main highway.

View from the top of the canyon looking towards the ocean are awesome, too!
 the road past the museum.
 another viewpoint overlooking the ocean.
We definitely picked a great day to drive up the canyon.
Dad even enjoyed talking to a military guy up at a station in the canyon.
On our way down we stopped at several more view points overlooking the canyon.
It's definitely a must see on the island of Kauai.
We weren't the only ones enjoying the day there.

the town of Waimea from an overlook as we were coming down the canyon.
Spend the rest of the day hanging out at Saltpond.  Did a little snorkeling.  First time I've seen one of these guys---a flying gunard!
I love the sunsets from Saltpond!
Then we made our hour or so trek back to the East side.  A fun day!
