1-24-19 activating a phone!

OK, not the usual vacation day---or at least any that I've had before.  But after loosing her phone shortly before this trip, my sister came to Kauai with a new phone that she had problems activating.  Neither she, nor I, could get it activated, so today I suggested we find a phone repair shop and they would most likely be able to do it.  So------

First thought---a place in Princeville.  But when we went to the address, it was a residence and the phone number said to email them.  So---I searched for another repair shop.  Came up with Kauai Phone Repair at the Harbor Mall in Lihue.  So we ventured that way.

Got caught in the Kapaa traffic, so we stopped at the Coconut Marketplace.  Interesting mall.  Seems it's been renovated since we've been on the island 2 years ago.
I noticed Eggberts or whatever it was after that, is gone.  Now there's a pretty impressive market there.  There are still several souvenir shops, too.  Love the shirts here.
I understand there are still free hula shows on Wed. and Larry Rivera on Fridays.  And farmers markets sometime during the week.
Got on the move again and made our way to Harbor Mall in Lihue.
Tucked away in a corner was Kauai Phone Repair.
A young man immediately ask if he could help us.  My sister explained her foibles.  He wiped her phone clean and helped her get it activated.  He was very knowledgeable and funny.  Spent a good half hour with us and didn't take a penny for his time.  Probably felt sorry for her for having an Alcatel phone---who ever heard of an Alcatel phone???!!!!
When we were leaving, Nick told us about a concert he is participating in this weekend.  Sounds really interesting---Broadway Baby.  He's the bass player for the  Kauai Voices
By now it was time to do what we do best, again---eat.  Carolyn was bragging about Pietro's Pizza in Oregon so we figured we'd try Pietro's there in the Harbor Mall.
Found out it wasn't the same Pietro's chain, but we decided to give it a try anyway.  The lunch menu and dinner menu have different types of pizza.  After 5 they have brick oven pizza.  At lunch they have New York Style.
A few of the shops here at Harbor Mall.
We each got the special of the day---sausage, pepperoni, onion, peppers, and I don't remember what all else was on it, but it was really quite good.  One slice was $3.75.  I also got an ice tea.  Wish I could say it was good.
 Nice open sitting area
Got a kick out of this sign at the Skinny Mike's Ice Cream and Shave Ice also in Harbor Mall.
From there I drove over to the point between Nawiliwili and Kalapaki bay.  Love the views.
 Someday!!!!----
 looking out across Kalapaki
Love this sculpture someone made.  Wonder how long it's been here, and how long it'll be there?
From there, we decided we needed to stop at Walmart again.  Then headed back up to Princeville.  Kapaa was the usual slow going.  So I took a picture of where I like to sit and take pictures from---the windows of Olympic Cafe.
I think this was Pizetta's Pizza last time I was on island.  There sure have been a lot of restaurants that have closed and others that have opened in there places over the years we've been coming here.  Sure hope Olympic Cafe, Kalypso, Keoki's Paradise, and Brick Oven Pizza don't close!
Stopped at Foodland in Princeville on our way back.  Picked up steaks, a potato, and peas to make dinner at the resort.
Back at the resort, I parked at my normal spot---right in front of these beautiful flowers.
And made Carolyn grill the steaks while I went in search of sunset.
 Not much of a sunset.
Still a gorgeous night to be outside, though.
Tonight I checked it out from the edge of the golf course by the resort.

Time for dinner!  And cheers, to another day in paradise.
We dined out on our patio.  Commendations to Carolyn for a dinner well cooked!  May have to make her do it again before she goes home.
Then Carolyn decided to finish setting up her phone by setting up her phone plan---Republic Wireless.  Well, we needed Nick again!  It would say "connected, no internet".  I tried researching what to do to get it to work so she could get to the Google store to continue the set up, but to no avail.  Guess we'll be going to the post office tomorrow.  Either that or to the Taro overlook so she can make another phone disappear.
