2018-2-7  Wailea Walkway

The surf is beginning to subside, but there is a lot of brown water here on the South side.  So we decided to enjoy the views above water once again.  Decided it was time to take a walk along the Wailea walking path.  It was a beautiful day for that---sunny and mid to upper 70s.
The beauty started right at the parking lot with flowers bordering it.
We parked at the Wailea Beach parking lot near the Grand Wailea.  When we got to the trail, there were a bunch of yellow hibiscus.
we went right---towards the Grand Wailea
The trail was popular today.
beautiful ocean views all along the way.
even the birds enjoyed the view.
lots of clouds over the West Maui mountains.
Lots of interesting accommodations along the trail
another bird joining us
Cattle egret.
another view towards the West side
another view of the trail
As I neared Polo beach, there was a whale lookout along the way---complete with informational placards
there was even a naturalist there eagerly answering questions
wonder if this is a permanent sand figure?
more pretty hibiscuses
although I didn't consider the water snorkelable, there were a lot of people playing in it.
There seem to be a lot more red Cardinals here this year
Back near the parking lot we parked in, we got Hawaiian shaved ices.  They sure hit the spot.  I got a mango and coconut one; Ken got a banana and strawberry one.  He was also able to refill our water bottle.
I don't remember this being here last time we  were on the island.  Love that there's also seating overlooking the beach as we ate our shaved ices.
view from our seats.
After our shaved ices, we went the other direction on the trail----and enjoyed more flowers.
and more of the ocean

another cool flower
Looked like more rain was on it's way.
love the way this tree limb leads you out to the ocean

The area we like to snorkel here---but not with those waves!

more pretty flowers.

I like using flowers to frame the ocean.

We went back to the condo to rest up before dinner.  While we were there, the fire alarm for our building went off.  So we left our room.  I guess everyone else was gone.  The only other people out there was a family with a little girl.  She had pulled the fire alarm.  I was impressed how quickly a maintenance man showed up.  Definitely having some unusual things going on this trip!
We decided to head up to the Quilt shop in Kihei.  Once upon a time I use to quilt.  Now that I'm a new Grandma, I may have to start it up again.  Since we were out that way, we decided to check out Diamonds Bar and Grill's.  This was the first time we've ever been there.
Our Ono dinners were Ono!
The patio was nice.  The inside was pretty busy (and noisy) for it only being about 3pm.  The bar tender/waitress was very nice and did a great job waiting on everyone---even us out on the patio.
We decided to head to Kam 3 for sunset.  Got there about 1 1/2 hours early and just enjoyed the evening.
The huge lawn at Kam 3
The monotone with the red buckets caught my eye.
It's a really nice, well used park.
close to sunset.

trying to get artsie
Sunset is about 6:20pm now.

everyone stopped to watch it set.
I looked down from where I was standing for sunset and saw this.  I assume it's coral.
one last view in my side rear view mirror of the last light of the day as we headed back to our condo.
Seemed strange not playing Mexican Dominoes and visiting with our friends.  Now we have to entertain ourselves.  We did so tonight by hitting the pool and Jacuzzi.
